How to install an Android APK downloaded through your browser

Check the app before downloading

Open the app's catalog detail page. Match its name and icon, then read the description. Note the APK version, download size and minimum Android requirement. Missing device information does not mean the app will definitely work on your phone.

APKCompass downloads do not require a catalog account. The app or website it opens may have different account requirements. Make room in storage: the APK size describes the download, not the total space used after installation.

Wait for the APK download to finish

Download APK opens a preparation page. Wait for the countdown or choose Download now. Recommendations on that page are optional; you do not need to install them to download your chosen app.

Download requested means the browser was asked to retrieve the file. Open the browser's downloads list to check that it actually finished. If no download started, use Download again. Avoid repeatedly pressing the button while a download is already running.

2. On the preparation page, wait for the countdown or select Download now.
3. Watch the browser's downloads list until the file finishes.
4. Open the newly downloaded .apk file from the browser or file manager.

Review Android's permission request

Android may request permission for the browser or file manager to install apps from that source. Review the APK's origin before granting it. Setting names and locations vary by Android version and manufacturer; follow the instructions shown on your phone.
