Version names and version codes

The version name is a release label displayed by the maintainer, such as 1.0.1. The version code is a value inside the package that Android uses to manage updates. Both may appear when file metadata has been read successfully.

Catalog version data describes the active published file. An update still being prepared in the dashboard is not yet a public download. If a version says Unavailable, do not infer its value from the filename or upload date.

Package names help distinguish apps

A package name is an Android app's technical identity. Apps with similar display names can have different package names. Conversely, a matching package name alone does not prove that two files have compatible update signatures.

Technical information is not a security guarantee or a statement of affiliation with a brand owner. Consider it alongside the file's origin, maintainer's explanation and device warnings. Do not install an app solely because its name or icon is familiar.

APK size is not total storage use

The size on Download APK describes the file sent from the catalog. Your browser may round it differently. It excludes data the app creates after installation.

A WebView APK may be small because some content loads from a website. Images, pages and other content can still consume data and storage during use. A small file does not guarantee light resource use on every device or offline availability.

Minimum Android and device checks

Minimum Android describes the known system-version requirement from metadata or release information. Compare it with Android's version under About phone. Menu names may vary between manufacturers.

Meeting the minimum does not guarantee every function works on every device. Connections, system components, website services and other app requirements may also matter. Report functions that fail even when installation succeeds.

Update dates and download counts

Updated on an APK detail page refers to publication of the active catalog version. It does not mean the app was tested on every phone. Release notes appear only when the maintainer supplies them.

APKCompass download counts measure file requests served by the server. They are not counts of successful installations, active users or app-quality ratings. Read the details before choosing a file.
