Before you begin

A draft gives you time to inspect a TikTok video before sharing it. Review the active account, then work on the clip without assuming a draft is an online backup that will automatically follow you to another phone.

Follow these steps

Prepare a short video you own to try the TikTok steps. Work from the correct account and check photo or camera permissions if your media does not appear. Listen to the original audio before adding effects or text.

  1. Open TikTok on the account you intend to use and start creating a video. Select the clip and review its beginning and ending before continuing.
  2. Edit the video and inspect its sound, text and visible background. Remove private information and check that captions stay readable throughout the clip.
  3. At the posting stage, select Drafts instead of publishing. Return to your profile and confirm the draft appears before closing the application.
  4. Open the saved draft to review it again. Check the final audience and caption before choosing to publish; saving a draft and posting are separate actions.

Check the result

Keep an independent copy of important footage. Draft availability can depend on the device and app data, so do not uninstall TikTok or reset the phone expecting every draft to return. Check the video itself before relying on it.

Editing and audience options can vary by account age, region and app version. Drafts are not permanent backups. Keep the original video separately before changing devices or clearing app data.
