Before you begin
Previously opening a page does not guarantee it will remain readable when the connection disappears. Download what you need while online, then test the saved copy before leaving. This works best for reading material that does not depend on live updates.
Check the page address before using Chrome's menus, particularly when several tabs have similar titles. Browser controls affect the open page, while buttons within that page may perform actions on the website itself. For a trial, use a page without a pending transaction or unsaved form. Keep track of the starting tab so you can compare results without losing work.
Follow these steps
Follow this sequence in the Android app.
- Open the intended page in Chrome while connected. Confirm that the visible title and contents are correct, rather than a sign-in screen or a temporary website error message.
- Open Chrome's More menu and choose Download for the page. Wait for saving to finish before closing its tab or turning off connectivity, so you do not test an interrupted copy.
- Open Downloads and locate the newly saved page. Read it from that list, then try again with the connection temporarily disabled to check which parts remain available offline.
- When online again, use Reload to view the live version if you need updated information. Compare dates and important details before relying on an older saved copy for a decision.
Check the result
An offline copy does not guarantee that forms, videos or interactive services will function. Test the material you actually need, including essential images. If it is incomplete, prepare an alternative document before travelling and use the live page for frequently changing information.
