Before you begin
Large group videos and old attachments can fill WhatsApp storage. Start with files you recognize instead of clearing Android app data. Working through one group of files at a time helps protect important documents while freeing space.

Follow these steps
Use the WhatsApp account you use every day. Menu names follow the app language; Setelan and Settings refer to the same area. Read the on-screen explanation before approving changes, especially when conversations contain important documents.
- Open WhatsApp Settings, Storage and data, then Manage storage. Identify the conversations or groups of files using the most space.
- Open one conversation or large-file group. Preview items so you can distinguish entertainment videos from personal photos and documents you still need.
- Save important documents somewhere you have checked. Select only unnecessary media and read the deletion confirmation carefully before accepting the change.
- Return to the storage summary and compare usage. Continue with another group only after checking the first result, without selecting every file at once.
Check the result
Deleting media changes stored files, so do not depend on an unverified backup. If storage quickly fills again, review automatic downloads under Storage and data. You can still choose to download individual items when you need them.
Backups, media on the phone and messages visible to recipients serve different purposes. Changing one setting does not recall files someone else has already saved. Never share your account verification code.
