Before you begin
A vertical canvas does not automatically keep every subject visible. Review the framing of each clip when changing the aspect ratio, especially footage originally recorded horizontally or with text near the edges.

Follow these steps
Use a new CapCut project with footage you own. Grant access only to the media needed and keep the original video. Select a clip on the timeline to see which tools apply to it before editing.
- Open your CapCut project and choose the available canvas or ratio control. Select the vertical ratio appropriate to the platform where you plan to share it.
- Review each clip within the new canvas. Reposition or resize the picture carefully so the intended subject remains visible without concealing important details.
- Inspect text, stickers and captions against the new edges. Leave room for the destination app’s controls instead of placing essential information at the very bottom.
- Play the whole sequence and export a test. Open the saved video on the phone to check readability, framing and the transitions between differently shaped clips.
Check the result
Avoid stretching footage to fill the frame. If cropping removes useful information, consider a background or a different composition. The final exported video is the result to check, not just the selected canvas ratio.
Some CapCut features or assets may require an account, connection or paid plan. Check pricing indicators before exporting. A higher output resolution does not automatically add detail missing from the original recording.
