A long unsorted bookmark list makes useful pages difficult to find. Group familiar links by activity, such as work or study, rather than keeping everything together. A clear folder structure lets you locate a page without remembering its complete title.
Check the page address before using Chrome's menus, particularly when several tabs have similar titles. Browser controls affect the open page, while buttons within that page may perform actions on the website itself. For a trial, use a page without a pending transaction or unsaved form. Keep track of the starting tab so you can compare results without losing work.
Follow these steps
Follow this sequence in the Android app.
- Open Chrome's menu and choose Bookmarks. Check which folder is currently displayed, using Back when needed so a new folder is not created in an unintended location.
- Choose the option to create a folder and give it a descriptive name. Avoid several nearly identical names that are difficult to distinguish on a narrow phone screen.
- Open More beside the bookmark to move and select Move to. Choose the destination folder you created, then confirm with Move here to complete the relocation.
- Open the destination folder and follow one bookmark to verify its address. If its label is unclear, use Edit beside the bookmark to give it a more recognizable name.
Check the result
Moving a bookmark does not download the page for offline reading. Before deleting apparent duplicates, open both and compare their addresses. Do not rely on an unavailable recovery menu to bring back a bookmark you have deleted.
