Before you begin
An image should help explain a document rather than merely fill an empty area. Choose a photograph or illustration that relates to the nearby paragraph and remains clear on a phone. Prepare the right file so the document does not use a trial image or an older version.
Check the document title and Google account before editing. A shared file may grant viewing, commenting or editing permission, which affects the controls available. For collaborative documents, agree on the intended change and avoid replacing another person's work without context. Review the result in the document itself, since the cursor's editing position does not always show the full page layout.
Follow these steps
Follow this sequence in the Android app.
- Open the document in the Docs app and choose the intended image position. Read the surrounding paragraph so the relationship between the illustration and the explanation is clear to readers.
- Tap Insert or Add, then choose Image. Select the available source on the device and open the photograph you prepared rather than a similar-looking file from another activity.
- Once inserted, inspect the visible image and neighboring text. Check for personal information in the photograph that is unnecessary for the document's purpose before leaving it in the shared file.
- If the image is incorrect, select it and use Delete before inserting the replacement. Reread the page after replacing it so the text and picture still follow the intended explanation.
Check the result
A picture that looks clear in a small preview may become unreadable when enlarged or printed. Inspect labels and any embedded writing. In shared documents, explain image changes that affect the content so collaborators do not retain a caption that no longer matches.
