Before you begin
A weekly activity does not need a separate entry for every occurrence. Set a repeating pattern for an established routine, then inspect the next few dates. Give it a clear title so the series is distinguishable from a one-time meeting.
Check the account and calendar name before changing a schedule. Personal, family and work calendars can appear together even though their ownership and permissions differ. Compare the date, location and time with the actual invitation or agreement. For shared events, changing the event time and changing a reminder have different effects; settings on your phone do not automatically change every guest's preferences.
Follow these steps
Follow this sequence in the Android app.
- Open Calendar, choose Create and then Event. Enter a descriptive title and set the first meeting's date and time using the schedule actually agreed with the participants.
- Under the time, tap Does not repeat and choose the appropriate frequency. Recheck the selected weekday and time before saving, rather than assuming the suggested repetition matches your routine.
- Save the event and move to the following week in the calendar. Inspect several occurrences to confirm that an incorrect starting date has not put the series on the wrong day.
- To change one meeting, open that occurrence and choose Edit. When saving, inspect the choice between this event and all events so the change does not spread farther than intended.
Check the result
Updating all events in the series affects the selected event and future occurrences, not past ones. For a single-date adjustment, choose the narrower scope and inspect the following occurrence afterward to make sure the regular schedule remains correct.
